Rapport Building
In December 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, I worked as a part-time assistant teacher at Chiltern House Pre-School where I taught Nursery 2, Kindergarten 1 and 2 students. My job scope included teaching students simple crafts, phonics, math and coming up with ideas on how to make the class interesting. As a psychology undergraduate, I mentor primary and lower secondary students for character building. As for tutoring, I try to understand the child's strengths, weaknesses, personality within the first 2 lessons and design my subsequent lesson to cater to their needs. I try to make learning as fun as possible with building blocks and other tools, especially for younger students.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I know teachers who are teaching in preschool and primary school. I receive updates from them and my current students and their siblings.
As a Good Tutor
I try to understand the child's strengths, weaknesses, personality within the first 2 lessons and design my subsequent lesson to cater to their needs. I try to make learning as fun as possible with building blocks and other tools, especially for younger students. Some children may take a longer time to understand a topic. I change my teaching methods until they understand. Patience is important when tutoring primary school students.
