Tuition/Teaching Experience
Upon graduation from Raffles Institution, I started teaching in my alma mater Tanjong Katong Girls' School (TKGS) as a Relief Allied Educator from January 2014 to May 2014. At TKGS, I specialised in helping the weaker students in upper secondary in the Biology and Chemistry. Furthermore, I help my students out in AMath during our free time. I am open to answering questions after school should my students have any queries, they can easily contact me at my number, and I will try my best to reply promptly. I won't hesitate to go the extra mile for my students. My students have shown marked improvements from F9 to B3 in a single examination

I have been tutoring regularly for 5 years now. I have been specialising in private/ group tuitions, and worked at a tuition centre previously as well.

Commitment / Other Details

I am able to start with immediately upon request and do have ready materials for subjects like Biology, Chemistry, Economics and Math.

I able to commit to a tuition assignment till the student's graduation. I am available on most days of the week to fully prepare my students well for their next exam and to be on par or better than their peers. Group sessions are available, location, timing and rate can be discussed.

I am doing a double degree in Economics and Business Administration in NUS. I am also holding a prestigious local scholarship.

When I was a student in my secondary school, my teacher selected me to coach a peer in a peer-tutoring program for AMath in secondary 4. Humbled by the opportunity, I took it readily. The batchmate I was assigned to had not passed AMath throughout secondary 3. We spent 30 mins together each session doing AMath for around 2-3 times a week. After 5 weeks of peer tutoring, it was time for our Prelims and I was very heartened when I received a text from her one morning thanking me for my help as she finally passed AMath for the first time! That further spurred my interest in helping my peers and an affirmation of my ability to connect with my peers and to help them better their studies.

I have taught several students from St Andrews, TKGS, CHIJ Katong Convent, Hai Sing Catholic, Chung Cheng Main, Sports School, Catholic High, Raffles, Hwa Chong and Anglo Chinese etc.
Rapport Building
My teaching methodology - I will firstly start with a prep talk with my students as I believe education isn't about excelling in one subject but enjoying the experience of learning from various disciplines and working to excel to qualify for a new experience in a good school which will enrich the students' lives, we will align our expectations for the next examination, and I seek to help my students improve exam by exam, I tackle the root of their problem be it their content/ time management/ answering techniques, we will revise before attempting questions from the school/ ten year series/ other sources and I will point out questions which are common or exceptionally unique with my students. Of course, there are additional stuff which will come along the way as I adjust my teaching style to complement each student's needs. I seek to not just impart knowledge but to build rapport with my students to ensure greater cooperation and success.

Given my personal experience in revising, improving and eventually excelling for the O and A levels examinations as well as my stint at TKGS, I am able to relate to students' unique struggles when dealing with these various subjects and how to help them.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I am updated with the curriculum as my siblings are studying and I am currently teaching in a mainstream school which keeps me up to date and equips me with the necessary skills to help students.
As a Good Tutor
I coach students who are among the weakest of their batch in school. They obtained F9 in their final term examination in secondary 3 and have managed to improve significantly to obtain a B3 to A1 within an examination. This is testimony of the combined effort of the teacher and student to obtain such stellar improvement. I am heartened and humbled by their achievement and look forward to helping more students find their passion for learning and to excel in their work.
