      I usually come slightly earlier for classes to find out more about the student (or begin early if the students have a lot of questions). Sometimes they may be tired from classes or CCA during certain weeks. I would cater to the pace of the lesson accordingly to ensure the student does not burn out and is still able to benefit the most out of the lesson.
      Keeping Up with Curriculum
      I currently have a sibling in Secondary School (2019-2022), thus in addition to reading the O level syllabus document annually, I am aware of the current curriculum and the topics there is more emphasis on.

      During my free time in national service (2019-2020), I provided free tutoring services to serviceman retaking their national examinations. Thus, I am aware of the current syllabus as well.
      As a Good Tutor
      Students each have their own studying method. These methods usually determine the topics in which a student is strong or weak in. I put in a conscious method to find out the students studying style to fill in the gaps that cause them to be weak at a certain chapter. I also remember the common mistakes they make to place more emphasis on them. This allows critical errors to be squared away

              I think its important to know a child's long-term and short-term goals and how these relate to those of their parents. I find it easier to communicate if I know where my subject wants to go, or where his/her parents want them to go, so I can help them get there. In this day and age getting good grades just doesn't cut it anymore, because learning, even in the early stages, should be about building a better understanding of the world and how it works.

              I am part of a community of part-time tutors here on campus, so I have people I can get in touch with over issues regarding curricula. I am an avid reader so I have no trouble catching up with any updates or even entirely new curricula.
