Tuition/Teaching Experience
Full-time graduate tutor with 15+ years of tutoring experience.
Mentored students from P2 - P6 levels for English, Math and Science; O Level Pure Chemistry candidate from Maris Stella, N/O Level candidate in Combined Humanities (Social Studies, Geography), and a University level Business Finance student.
I have a track record of being a multi-hyphenate who is dedicated and committed, with follow-through. Busy schedules for me will not be an issue; I will be supportive and see students through the year; managed up to 7 students in 1 academic year while in University.
Most importantly, I'm a dynamic and engaging tutor, with a performance-driven approach to coaching.
Lower secondary level - English Literature Social Studies
Upper secondary level - English Social Studies
Junior college level - Economics General Paper
Commitment / Other Details
Open to a select quantity of students for the academic year of 2025.
Avails: Weekday afternoons (3 - 6pm)
Children need time to play outside too!
Rapport Building
Being a great people person, I adjust and calibrate teaching methods so lessons are never stale and find novel ways to engage with and enable students to recall better, and be nimble in solving problems.
Parents have commented improvements of their children's attitudes (and grades!); I always make it a point to keep parents posted after every session and regularly as and when.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
Before going to the students, I would have devoted hours on analysing suitable assessment resources and past year papers. Get ready for lots of drills, but we make it fun!
As a Good Tutor
I invest in my students not because they are my paid assignments, but they're people. Adults in progress.
And, I recognise that people are built differently, so we all work on both strengths and weaknesses together.
Cheesy as it may be, I am a committed and responsible tutor.
This means:
- Punctuality is very important. I hate being late, but if anything crops up, you'll hear from me ahead of time.
- I am accountable for the wellbeing of the student (grades, character and such).
- I will not hesitate to step in and correct undesirable behaviours and habits.
- I set an example, lay the ground rules and expect students to adhere consistently.
- I am genuine and authentic - integrity and honesty with students and parents are key in a good working relationship, and even friendships after. :)
