Commitment / Other Details
I will only be free after 7pm on weekdays. However I have flexible timings for weekends, please do discuss with me as I am sure we can work out a schedule.
Rapport Building
Before we proceed with anything else, it would be great if I could have a chat with the parents and understand more about how they feel about their child's current results as well as how their child is coping with school, in terms of both academics and non-academics. This is important as maybe the student could have alot of commitments and may not be able to fully balance work and hence require some help from tuition. As a ex-student, I understand that students may have lots of commitment during their schooling days and as a result may not be able to keep up with school work. After which, I would like to explain how I teach, such that the parents would understand my style of teaching. In addition, I strongly encourage parents to discuss with me regarding how they feel about my teaching style, how their child is improving, or any feedback that they wish to give.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I have a secondary 2 sister and a secondary 4 brother. As such, I always keep myself updated to be able to guide my siblings through their education, especially since it is still manageable at a secondary school level. However I will not be able to keep up with A level subjects as it is very in-depth and will need a lot of time to focus on.
As a Good Tutor
I believe in teaching students about how they should grasp concepts, as well as understand topics and be able to freely apply any concept or laws that they have been taught. Rather than focusing on simply doing practices, or even in a consultation based tuition, I believe that fundamentals should be properly taught. If I am given enough time to teach the student, in the event that his/her exam is still months away, I would ensure that the student understands the fundamentals before proceeding with practices and papers. Endless papers and practices will only tire the student, whilst allowing them to grasp the fundamentals will allow them to excel, and enjoy learning.

A happy student, will be able to learn much faster as compared to a tired student. I believe that it is our job as a tutor to be able to encourage, motivate and advice students on how they should study as well as guiding them through their educational journey.
