Getting updates from students as well as refreshing my textbook contents help too. Being a graduate from the department of curriculum, teaching and learning benefits greatly when it comes to adapting to curriculum and design effective learning processes.

Always have the belief that all students can do well if they are given a chance and they are willing to learn.
Do not stereotype students.
Be aware that not all students are the same, so teach according to the learning needs of the student ( give assessment accordingly)
