I'm dedicated to work with students who are struggling with English language and worked with numerous children and youths to excel in understanding, comprehension, composition and spelling.
I'm available on weekday evenings and weekend mornings, in the East region, mainly Tampines, Simei and Bedok areas.
Rapport Building
Before the lesson starts, I'll have a conversation with parents to understand what are the challenges and difficulties faced by the child or feedback from language teacher, and find out the expectations of the child e.g C grade to B grade, or types of teaching formats/ usage of assessment books
After checking in with parent, I'll engage the child by asking what help he/she needs and find out the strengths and weakness of the child in this particular subject. I'll then source for assessment books to be used and recommend to parents.
I cater to the needs of the student and plan the lesson accordingly, thus the format of tutoring is flexible. It could be 50% questions on homework/tests and 50% assessment book.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I refer to MOE's website for curriculum as I'm aware they update the curriculum regularly. In addition, I refer to PSLE past papers and assessment books to keep myself updated.
As a Good Tutor
I believe in being interested and understanding the subject matter as compared to memorising facts and I use scaffolding method to teach. I give my best in teaching my student and keep it at a comfortable pace and challenging them with homework to do.
