Commitment / Other Details
Currently set to graduate and start working in June, however, weekends are largely free and so there shouldn't be any issue with commitments.
Rapport Building
For students, I emphasize confidence building in the subject that I'm teaching. I realize that many students self-handicap themselves by thinking that they are naturally bad at the subject and that they cannot improve. Part of my job is to convince them otherwise, and I think its especially necessary to get them to then proactively take measures to better understand and learn the curriculum.

For parents, I give weekly reports after every session. And if they are free, I work with them to think about how to best make use of their child's study time as well as how we can structure the tuition sessions together to maximize the impact those few hours per week will have on their child.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I keep up with how the curriculum is taught and tested through past year papers as well as conversations with my family members who are MOE teachers
As a Good Tutor
I think there are certain basic expectations of a good tutor. They need to be extremely well-versed in the course content and be able to respond to any question that the student will have. At the same time, they need to be able to think of ways to check understanding and to structure explanations in a way that makes learning a difficult or complex topic more accessible. Lastly, I think what's probably the most important thing, is that a good tutor needs to be able to properly manage the student's emotional state. Of course, there are things outside the tutor's control, but a good tutor needs to be conscious about how the student feels about the subject and how they can improve the child's motivation in learning.
