Rapport Building
I often try to go down to the level of the students so I can relate to them better, and also so that they are more often with me about their difficulties. For example, not all students will be comfortable admitting that they are unmotivated or lack focus.
When students open up to me, it becomes easier to motivate and inspire them.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I keep in touch with school teachers, as well as peruse the MOE syllabus and 10-year series every year.
As a Good Tutor
On top of subject knowledge, patience and the ability to inspire are important traits of a good tutor.
A good tutor should also be able to adapt different teaching strategies to students with different learning styles.
