Rapport Building
I am an experienced tutor, and have been giving tuition for 6 years. I am dedicated and believe strongly in both academic success and imparting knowledge and skills useful to help my students develop. I aim to inspire students to take charge of their own learning, and I am able to motivate and engage students who don’t like math and science. I build good rapport with students, and have a few students that have been with me since PSLE and have just completed O levels.
All of my students results have improved drastically and the positive feedback from parents is a testament to the quality of my teaching and my commitment to my students' success.
With my relatively young age, I can relate easily to the struggles that teenagers face, and the stresses of school. I build rapport with students by supporting them and offering them help outside of class, where students can text me anytime if they have any queries. I also consistently check in with students on their well-being and communicate with parents on their child’s progress and how else they can improve.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
Consistently check in with the MOE syllabus for changes, updating my materials.
As a Good Tutor
My teaching philosophy:
As a teacher, my ultimate goal is to empower my students to reach their full potential and achieve their academic goals. I believe that every student has the ability to succeed, and it is my job to create a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters their growth and development. Ultimately, my teaching philosophy is centered around the belief that every student has the potential to succeed, and it is my role to provide the support and guidance they need to reach their goals.
When teaching, I identify the students weaknesses and strengths first. Laying down a solid foundation is very important, as schools (primary, sec and jcs) tend to adopt a cumulative learning approach, where students are required to tap on what they learnt in the past. Subsequent topics usually require concepts from previous topics and as such this snowballs and results in poor foundation. As such, foundation is very important to do well especially for subjects like mathematics.
My lessons are planned to target concepts and chapters that students are weak in. After solidifying foundation, then I will provide questions related to the topic for the student to retain the knowledge and apply the concepts learnt beforehand. Practicing is also important for me to gauge what the student knows and do not know.
My lessons are very focused and individually catered to every student. I will also prepare materials and explain in the way that is not technical and easily understood (like explaining based on real life examples that students can relate to).
