      I connect with students very well because I can emphatise with the academic stress that they face. I myself have been juggling sporting, academic and leadership commitments for all my life. I have been a student-athlete in the Singapore Sports School for 6 years and currently a national football player. Having to balance these commitments, I know exam and revision strategies which saves time and would be beneficial to students. I have excelled academically in school as well and have a clear understanding of subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Economics, where I attained perfect scores (grade 7) in my recent IB examinations. Thus, I feel I am able to teach students these concepts accurately and in a concise manner. While it is crucial to engage students, I feel that it is equally, if not more, important to communicate with parents. Having 2 very concerned parents myself, I know how nerve-wrecking it can be to have a child sitting for national exams in the near future. I believe it is essential to communicate the student's progress to his/her parents, as well as understand the concerns that parents may have and to address those concerns.
      Keeping Up with Curriculum
      I have just graduated so the concepts are fresh in my mind. On top of that, I actively offer tuition to my friends and juniors, which allows me to teach and revise concepts on a regular basis.

        As a fellow student myself, I understand the possible struggles faced by current students as well as concerns parents may have over their children's academics. I hope to be a tutor that is approachable, open to questions from parents as well as students, and to provide relevant assistance in areas the students have concerns with. Parents and students should not feel uncomfortable approaching me for any questions regarding the way I conduct my lessons, the materials as well as areas for improvement as well since this is my first stint at tutoring. Students are able to reach out to me outside of tuition hours for questions regarding their work, though the time taken to reply may vary due to my other commitments.
        Keeping Up with Curriculum
        I have a younger brother who is taking his A level examinations this year and I relook into my past materials to render help whenever necessary, and to keep myself updated through helping my brother in his work. In addition, I enjoy studying economics and languages such as general paper, and I am eager to share what I have learnt through tutoring. In addition, i have only recently graduated from junior college last year. Hence, I have materials from relevant schools that will be able to supplement my teaching materials as well as the understanding of the requirements in the relevant examinations

        I strongly believe that the basic qualities of a good tutor is one that is dedicated to teaching their students, to help them navigate the education system together as well as a tutor that is willing to make mistakes and learn for them.                 Apart from teaching my students well, I show concern and interest in their lives by discussing on matters beyond the books.
                With the students, I talk about their interests and aspirations; likes and dislikes; current trends and topics; fun and challenges they meet in school or at home, matters that motivate or discourage them, encourage them to communicate the difficulties they encounter with their learning, etc.
                With younger learners, I reward them with little gifts of encouragement, celebrate their birthdays taking them out (with their parents' consent).

                With their parents, if they 'allow', I politely ask about their day and communicate as appropriate on challenges they may have with their children or even at work and offer advice and my perspective, hoping they can help. I often provide them feedback on their child's progress and how they can support them in their learning and development.

                My strength in teaching and tutoring...
                During my teaching in MOE schools, I was given level head positions and have learned diagnostic skills to effectively teach my weaker students in Math and English.
                As a tutor, I believe in effective teaching, adopting diagnostic skills to identify students' weaknesses and coaching them with self-designed materials to allow better improvement.
                In my years of teaching and tutoring, I was able to assist failing and weak students to a 70 marks score range.
