Commitment / Other Details
I am able to start tutoring as soon as possible, and will commit till the end of PSLE/O levels. I do not mind the increase of frequency for tutoring during the exam period.
Rapport Building
I have always held the belief that learning should be an ongoing process, and have allowed my tutees to comprehend this as well. Learning should be of understanding, instead of memorising, to commit the information learnt to long term memory. Through understanding the topics learnt, with the daily aid of parents to focus on certain topics, my tutees have been able to apply the concepts to exam questions with ease. This gradually sparked their interest, as they were able to score an A for their exams, from a B or C grade.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
The subjects that I mainly tutor in are Mathematics and Sciences, and the syllabus changes around every 5 years. To keep myself updated with the curriculum, I would check the syllabus online, and have a look through the text books of my tutees. This allows me to be prepared for any questions my tutees may encounter in the near future.
As a Good Tutor
I believe that a good relationship with the parents and tutees will allow us to work as a whole, to identify the key areas to focus on for the tutees. Parents will be able to aid in daily learning activities, while understanding the obstacles faced, while I will be able to explain key concepts and tips for answering questions for the tutees. During my schooling days, I have been awarded for the best Mathematics and Sciences results scored for 4 secondary years, and have been selected into the director's list in poly. and am confident that my passion for learning will spark interest in my tutees to come.
