Commitment / Other Details
Able to start anytime, and can guarantee commitment until August 2023 for now. Possibility to continue after August can only be confirmed around June.
Rapport Building
Firstly, I am easily contactable through multiple platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS and calls. Hence even during out-of-lesson periods, I am able to handle enquiries from students and parents. I also strongly believe in building genuine and authentic connections with students and parents, and I would be accountable for the student's learning process to the student - by letting them know of every lesson's agenda before class, and ensure they would be able to summarise the key takeaways from every lesson. I would also be accountable to the parents by updating them on the content covered with the student after every lesson, and also to update them on their child's learning progress.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
As my mum also does tutoring for students at primary school levels as well, I am constantly updated about the curriculum through her, and I do try to keep up with news on the education system in Singapore as much as I can. I have relatives who are also in primary school/just graduated, hence I am able to find out more about the curriculum through them.
As a Good Tutor
Patience and resilience are definitely the most important qualities to allow a tutor to commit to the needs of students for a long run. Communication is also crucial, not just in terms of being able to connect with and teach the student efficiently, but also to be accountable to the parents about the student's learning. Being empathetic and adaptable are also significant qualities - every student has different learning needs, hence it is important to understand the learning style of the student, and cater the teaching to suit their needs as much as possible. It will not only help the student, but also allow the tutor to grow in terms of the breadth of teaching capability.
