    When I was a classroom teacher, I could communicate with my students on various topics that interest them - computer games, CCAs, BGR, social issues and even on career options. My 2018 batch of students invited my out to Seoul Garden restaurant last year on National Day's eve (8th August 2019) to thank me for their stellar N level results, for helping them to continue to go up to Sec 5 to do O level, proving that my two years with them (Sec 3 and 4) were very rewarding and engaging with them. Basically talk with them to better understand their needs and concerns, listen with empathy but refrain from making any judgments.
    Keeping Up with Curriculum
    Fully aware (and had formal training updates) on the 2010 English syllabus and exam questions (its first exam was 2013). Every year, I was tasked with compilation of the cluster school exam papers so I am kept abreast of paper format and question types.

      A good tutor is like a good engineer solving an optimisation problem. Every student has his/her inherent limitations. And the educator's role is to try to maximise the level of success from the student. It can be a simple issue of listening well and deeply to internalise the constraints. Can be reading between the lines to identify non-verbal cues that need addressing. On to building the curriculum that will suit the ideal pace of each student, and repeated follow up to ensure adherence to both the learning journey and the content.
