    I can commit until July as I am waiting for University to start, however depending on the schedule I may be able to continue throughout University as well.

    I am friendly, approachable and I have lots of experience with both younger children and parents as I lead a small group in Church. For students I try to be as encouraging as possible, especially when I know that they are struggling with a particular subject, or perhaps lacking motivation to put in the effort in the first place. I find that parents can be easily frustrated with their children when they are not doing well in school, so my goal with students is to identify both their strengths and weaknesses, so that I can easily assure parents that their student does have the potential to do better. Generally I try to create an environment where the parents can also encourage their children in their studies by communicating as clearly as possible how their child can do better, and what I and the parents can both do to help him/her.
    Keeping Up with Curriculum
    I have many juniors in school, both in secondary school and Junior College whom I often peer tutor (for free) when they need help, and through them I find out how the curriculum has changed. I also check with my previous teachers for the quickest updates on outdated/new curriculum, and the official syllabus website as well. Now that I am also working part-time in a tuition centre, I can easily keep up with what schools are teaching as well.
    As a Good Tutor
    I believe that a good tutor must not simply deliver content, but create an environment to motivate their tutee to learn as well, by making learning interesting for them. It is this motivation that will help them in their own self-study, such that they will be diligent outside of tuition timings as well. However, there are times where a tutor has to be firm with their tutee, especially when they are ill-disciplined, and must have some degree of control over them as well to make sure that they do their work as you teach. A good tutor must also be able to build trust and rapport with their tutees and their parents, communicate clearly such that parents and tutors can both work together for the child's improvement.

      I was a student athlete in my schooling years and with the craziest schedules.       As important as grades are in this world i do not think that they are everything. Our education system is too myopic in its definition of abilities. For many people with great non academic abilities, the exams are a great hindrance to their potential of opportunities and i feel that personally what i can do is help students better their chances at being able to demonstrate those non academic abilities, by first overcoming the exams.

            Between SA, I will do target setting with the student, and then show it to the parents. And then, after results are back, we will analyse and access what are the goods and bads, and how to improve from here. I will also access whether the paper is a fair paper, and whether the student's result are within reasonable range and what else can be done more in certain areas. I believe good communication between student and parents are crucial for the kid's development.
            Keeping Up with Curriculum
            I have been teaching since my JC days, hence I have not once felt left out on the syllabus of GCE O and A Level. Besides, in my degree course, I am exposed to deeper science and mathematics knowledge, further strengthening my basics in my academics. This proved to assist in helping me identify where the scope of curriculum lies and where I can value add in their education.
            As a Good Tutor
            I believe there are no poor students, only poor teachers. Since teachers are more senior learners, they should be able to adapt and improvise their style of teaching to suit the needs of individual student, all the more as a private tutor. They should attempt to always bring out the best of the student, aspiring them to self-motivated learners.
