                    Building rapport is something innate. As a tutor is who is rather young, I am able to connect extremely well with the students as I have walked their path just recently. I understand what kind of problems they are facing in their learning and in school as I have already been through it. I usually spend 15-30mins of the first lesson getting to know the student as it is very important to have a good student-teacher relationship before we start lessons proper. I believe I am one of the rare few teachers to constantly ask how the student is doing in school, give Christmas cookies, Chinese New Year Angbaos, holiday souvenirs, handmade notes and even their favourite bubble tea drinks! I believe that knowing the student well is very important as it builds trust and mutual respect, which makes learning so much easier.
